Journal Management

When Maxjournal is first opened, you will be on the Journal Management screen. Here you can add new journals, configure journals and delete journals.

Maxjournal will always remember if you had a journal open when you last quit Maxjournal. When you start Maxjournal, it will automatically open that journal. (If you use a password, the password will still be needed.)

Navigating Multiple Journals

The active journal is always the journal in the center of your iPad screen. You may perform many actions on the active journal - you may configure the journal, delete the journal, or perform actions like Export, Backup or Restore.

If you tap a journal that is not the active journal, it will move to the center of your screen and become the Active Journal.

You may also tap and swipe on the journals right or left to change the Active Journal.

Adding a Journal

Tapping on the Add button on the Top Toolbar will bring up a menu with two choices - Create a New Journal, or Import a Journal from a Journal Backup file.

Creating a New Journal will open the Journal Configuration Wizard. You may set the Title, Password, Journal Photo Cover and Journal Background photo.

Importing a Journal from Backup allows you to select a previous Journal Backup file (mxjbackup) and create a new journal from it. Note: If this journal already exists in Maxjournal you will not be able to create a new journal from its backup file. Example: You have a journal called "Your Journal" and you make a backup of it. You then press the Add button and select Import from Backup. Since this journal already exists, you will receive a message telling you that this is not possible.

Deleting a Journal

Simply Tap and Hold on the Journal you wish to delete. An X icon will appear on the top left corner of the journal. Tapping the X will bring up a confirmation dialog, where you can confirm the deletion of the journal.

Configuring a Journal

When you create a journal you will see the Journal Configuration Wizard where you can set the journal's properties as you like.

Tap the journal's settings button to launch the Configuration Wizard and change the journal's settings.

Journal Configuration Wizard

The Journal Configuration Wizard allows you to set the journal's Title, Password, Cover Photo and Background.

You will configure the journal when you create it, but you can change any of its settings at any time.

The journal title is the name of your journal. This can be changed at any time.

You can set a Password for your journal, which will protect your journal from being opened by anyone else. The password is unique to your journal. Each journal can have its own separate password. See Password Protection for more details.

You can set a Cover photo from your iPad photos.

Each journal can have its own customized Background. You may choose from the set of pre-supplied backgrounds. If you choose the first background (fabric) you may also set the color tint of the background from inside your journal.

Note: To save any changes to your journal's configuration you must tap 'Save' on the Journal Wizard's main page. Changing your password (for example) but not tapping 'Save' on the main screen will not actually change anything. You must Tap save to keep ANY of the changes you may have made to your journal configuration.
