Passwords in Maxjournal

Password Protection

You may choose to password protect your journal at anytime! Make sure that you always remember your password - if you forget you will not have a way to retrieve any of your journal entries. For this reason we HIGHLY recommend that you use some sort of Password Manager (like 1Password, LastPass, etc...) to store your password!

We cannot emphasize this enough! If you lose or forget your password, you will not be able to open your journal, and we will not be able to help!

Choosing a Password

Open a journal's Configuration Wizard by selecting its Settings Button. Once in the Wizard, tap the Password field to move to the Set Password screen. You must enter a password twice, and the passwords must match! Tap 'Keep Password' when done.

A Note about password entry. When tapping 'Keep Password' it is good to remember that the new password isn't yet permanently saved - you must still tap 'Save' on the main screen of the Journal Configuration Wizard to save any changes to your password. (Or any changes to the journal configuration altogether!)

Removing a Password

Simply leave both password entry fields blank and tap 'Keep Password'

How Passwords work with IOS 4.2 Multitasking

When opening a Password Protected Journal, the password will always be required, but please remember that with multitasking, when you close maxjournal you are not really closing maxjournal completely, it is simply moving to the background - ready to continue working with when you are ready. When maxjournal goes into the background and a journal is still open, you have a 5 minute window in which a password is not required when you start maxjournal again. After 5 minutes you will need enter your password upon restarting maxjournal.

You should close your journal before closing (backgrounding) maxjournal if you want to make sure the journal is locked (and consequently bypass that 5 minute window).

The 5 minute window is simply to allow those who are using other apps with maxjournal - say to copy/paste information from other apps into maxjourna, or vice versa.
