Working with Photos
You can work with Photos in either Landscape or Portrait Mode. In Landscape mode, you will see the Sidebar photos area. In portrait you will use the Photos Icon (located in the upper right of the journal area.)
When first starting a journal entry, there will be no photos associated with that day. You can add photos directly into the text area, or you can collect photos into the sidebar area.
Adding photos to the Text Area allows you to associate photos very directly with your thoughts for the day. The Sidebar acts as a photo collection area, where you can add more photos - photos that you would could not fit into the Text Area.
You are limited to 10 photos in the text area and 20 photos in the sidebar - for a total of 30 photos per day.
Adding Photos
You can add photos using either the Add Button (Plus sign), which adds photos to the sidebar, or by using the photo icon.
Touching the Add Button will open the Photo Selection window. You can choose from all the photos you have saved or synced to your iPad. This adds photos to your sidebar.
Touching the Photo Icon will show a popup menu with three choices - Add to Sidebar, Add to Text, or Lightbox. Selecting Sidebar or Text will bring up the Photo Selection window where you can choose a photo to add to the sidebar or text respectively.
You can also move a photo from the Sidebar into the Text area, or from the Text area into the Sidebar.
To move a photo from the Sidebar into the Text area, simply touch the Sidebar photos and 'swipe' your finger to the left - this will move the top sidebar photo into the text area.
To move a photo from the Text Area to the Sidebar, tap and hold the photo in the Text Area to bring up a contextual menu. Select 'Move to Sidebar' to move that photo into the Sidebar.
Removing Photos
To remove a photo from the sidebar, you can swipe your finger to the right in the sidebar area (as if you were 'swiping' the photo off-screen), which will remove the photo. An alternate method would be to enter Lightbox mode and choose which photos you wish to delete.
To remove a photo from the text area, tap and hold the photo you wish to remove. Tapping and holding (or a long-press), will bring up a small contextual menu. Choose Delete from this menu.
Rearranging Photos in the Sidebar
Simply swipe up or down over the Sidebar to shuffle through your sidebar photos.
You can also rearrange photos in the Lightbox. Simply touch and drag photos into the order you want.
Positioning Photos in the Text Area
Photos in the text area can be placed wherever you would like. Simply touch and drag a photo to position it. You can resize a photo by using a two-finger pinch gesture. Touch the photo with two fingers and either spread or contract your fingers and the photo will grow larger or smaller.
You can rotate your photos by touching the photo with two fingers and turning your fingers either clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Photos and Text Auto-wrapping
Wherever you place your photos in the text area, the text will intelligently and automatically wrap-around your photo.
Viewing Photos
In the Sidebar, Text View or Lightbox, you can tap a photo to view it fullscreen. (Tap it again to make it small.)
When viewing a photo from the Sidebar in Fullscreen mode you can swipe left or right to move through all the photos in your Sidebar.
Opening the Lightbox
There are 2 ways to open the Lightbox. Tapping and holding the photo stack in the sidebar will launch the Lightbox. Tapping the Photo Icon will show a popup menu. Selecting Lightbox from this menu will launch the Lightbox.
Using the Photos Icon while in Portrait mode
The Photos Sidebar area isn't available while in Portrait mode, but you can interact with the Photos icon, which is in the upper right of the journal area.
